Q:  How Do I Make Friends?

Picture
A:  The first step is to look for places where you might find friends.  Actually, potential friends are everywhere--in your neighborhood, at school, on your sports tea, and at church.  You probably already know a lot of kids who could become very good friends.
The best way to make friends is to be friendly.  In other words, you should be the kind of person that others will like to have as a friend.  Think about what  you like in a friend, and be that kind of person to others.  This probably will mean showing interest in other people and being a good listner--all of us want friends who will listen carefully to what we say and take us seriously.
To have a friend, be a friend!

Key Verse:  Do for others what you would like them to do for you.  This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.  (Matthew 7:12)

Q:  I Want to Have Nice Friends, But How Do I Know If Kids Are Nice?

Picture
A:  You can get an idea of what a person is like by reputation, especially if the reputation is good.  For example, if you hear from a lot of people that someone is nice, that's probably a good sign that the person really is nice.  Sometimes, however, a person's reputation is not always accurate.  For example, someone may say that a boy is stuck-up when, instead, he is only shy.  Be careful not to judge kids before you know them--give them a chance.
The best way to know if kids are nice is to get to know them yourself.  Start talking with them.  The Bible teaches that a person's words show what is in that person's heart.  If people talk about bad things, swear, or tell dirty jokes, that is a sign of what they are really like.  Watch kids in action with others.  Pretty soon you will know if they're nice or not.

Key Verse:  Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is really faithful?  (Proverbs 20:6)
